Concept for Care for Small and Specially-protected Areas in the Moravian-Silesian Region
Work on the activity started in Phase 1 and will continue for the duration of the project
Partners involved in the activity: Moravian-Silesian Region, Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic
This activity is in line with and directly supports the objectives of the Moravian-Silesian Adaptation Strategy of the Region for the Impacts of Climate Change. Climate change affects all ecosystems and habitats, and can also threaten protected areas. Without detailed analysis, it is impossible to determine exactly how endangered these areas are and how to protect them effectively.
The outcomes of the activity will include:
- an analysis of the current threats to 75 protected areas,
- proposed measures to ensure care for the most vulnerable sites,
- implementation of pilot measures in two selected areas,
- evaluation of the success of interventions and suggestions for further action.
The aim of the activity is to identify the most vulnerable areas and adapt their management plans to better prepare them for the impacts of climate change. Specific recommended interventions will be implemented at two pilot sites and their success will then be evaluated. The experience gained will be presented as examples of good practice at professional forums and will also be presented on the MiSe Klima portal.
