Cost benefit Analysis and Ecosystem Services Provided within the Framework of Adaptation Measures
The activity will be implemented in Phases 3 and 4 of the project
Partners involved in the activity: Moravian-Silesian Region and the Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic
Not every adaptation measure is suitable for every location. What works in one region may not be effective elsewhere. A cost-benefit analysis (CBA) is a useful tool that helps to compare the economic and non-economic benefits and costs of different measures and to select the most effective ones.
Why CBA?
- It helps identify the most effective adaptation measures.
- It provides a comprehensive view of benefits and costs.
- It can be complemented by an assessment of ecosystem services, giving a better understanding of the long-term impacts of measures.
- It serves as the basis for public awareness and support for the implementation of measures.
This activity will analyse 10 typical projects implemented in the Moravian-Silesian Region in 2019-2029. The outputs of the analyses will be used for better decision-making on future measures and will also help to communicate them effectively to the public.
Although this activity indirectly helps to fulfil the Moravian-Silesian Adaptation Strategy of the Region for the Impacts of Climate Change, it provides important feedback and evidence for the selection of measures that will be truly functional and beneficial in the long term.
