Karviná Green Estate – Study of the Development Area
This activity was carried out in Phase 1 of the project
Partners involved in the activity: Statutory City of Karviná
This activity included a pilot study of the development area, drawing on the principles of the Moravian-Silesian Adaptation Strategy and relevant territorial studies.
The site selected covers 24 ha in Karviná-Hranice, where development is expected in the coming years.
The aim of the study was:
- to define limits for rainwater management,
- to reduce the heat island effect through nature-friendly solutions,
- to design a green system to improve the microclimate,
- to determine the general limits for future construction.
Greenery plays a key role in cooling the urban environment, retaining water and improving quality of life. The study therefore emphasises the correct choice and effective distribution of vegetation in the area. The document is available on the City of Karviná website and will serve as an essential basis for future decisions on the use of this area.
