Pilot Implementation of Public Spaces in Karviná and Havířov

Work on the activity will start in Phase 2 of the project

Partners involved in the activity: The Statutory Cities of Karviná and Havířov and the Partnership Foundation

The gradual transformation of the urban environment to reduce the adverse impacts of the heat island is one of the key objectives of the adaptation measures. In the Moravian-Silesian Region, approximately 75% of the region's population lives in cities, and it is in cities that the effects of climate change are most pronounced.

In Karviná and Havířov, demonstration projects will be implemented in public spaces that will serve as examples of good practice for other towns and municipalities. This activity will also include active public participation in planning and decision-making, which is still fairly uncommon in the Czech Republic. Finding solutions and designing adaptations together will help not only improve the environment, but also raise awareness about climate change and adaptation.

In Karviná, project documentation will be created for the renovation of two public spaces and the work on these spaces will be implemented as part of the activity.

In Havířov, feasibility studies will be prepared for the renovation of two public spaces and project documentation will be prepared for these areas. The final work will then be dealt with in a complementary manner.

We will keep you informed about progress with the activity on this website and also on the MiSe Klima information portal.
